Frogs...

They are sleek and slender. Their skin is smooth and flawless. People like frogs. They are not afraid of frogs. People think they are cute or adorable. People say cute things like, “He leaps around like a frog.”

But a frog with warts is a toad. They are completely different than toads. Their skin is usually a darker color, bumpy and rough. People don’t like toads. In fact, to call someone a toad is generally and insult. Toads are dirty fat little beasts. People don’t take toads as pets. They are afraid of touching a toad because they might get those warts.

So where does that leave the toad? No where really. The warts will never go away. They define the toad. In the end, the toad will forever be a toad that people don’t want to touch. He does not really have a choice about being a toad.

I don’t think Kermit the frog would have been well liked if he was Kermit the toad.
