New MMO Prospects

Well, I must say it has been a few days since I wrote last. I really don’t want to get out of the habit of doing this. So I really need to work on doing this on a daily basis.
I was not really sure what to write about this morning until I came across Final Fantasy XIV.

It is an MMO and I am sure you have heard about it. But its different than WoW. I think I want to try it out, at least for a month or two to see if I like it. I know my wife wanted to try it but since we cant opt in for the beta, I don’t know if she is willing to buy the game just to try it out.

Personally, WoW is kind of loosing its appeal to me. I wanna play it but I get so tired of the grind. I should really get back into the role-playing aspect of it. Unfortunately, its been so long since I role played a character in wow that I am kind of out of character idea. Also, no one really role plays that much anymore and when they do, they are more interested in ERP that real RP. What is ERP? Imagine Yahoo chat and a bunch of lonely people looking to ‘get off’. Yep, its about the cyber sex.

Anyway, back to what I was blabbering about, FFXIV. I really do want to try it out. I t comes out on September 30th. I tried to opt into the beta but I think I was far to late for that. It appears that you can be several different types of characters from Warrior types to a trade type. If that’s that case then you will probably want to toons; one to actually play run through quests and kill things and one to have an actual career in. As far as careers, What really killed it for me in the last Final Fantasy MMO was the long drawn out play time it took to level, farm, and get anywhere. You could play for several hours and have so little to gain from it. Hopefully that is fixed. The other thing that killed it for me and this has happened to several MMO’s for me, including Aion; the fucking gold farming and their damn spam. I remember back in the day of FFXI, if you wanted to buy something on the AH, you needed several million to buy anything of worth. It was fucking retarded. So yeah, I hope they fixed that.

Anyway, here is looking for a new MMO. We will see what happens on the 30th of September.
